Baked French Toast

Served Christmas Morning since 1997


1 loaf (1 pound) French bread                                      2 ½ cups milk

1 pkg. (8oz.) cream cheese, cubed                              6 tbsp. butter, melted

8 eggs                                                                           ¼ cup maple syrup


Cut bread into cubes. Grease a 3-qt. rectangular baking dish. Place half of the bread cubes dish. Top with cream cheese cubes and remaining bread. Combine egg, butter, syrup in a mixing bowl. Pour mixture evenly over bread and cheese cubes. Using a spatula, press layers down to moisten. Cover and refrigerate for 2-24 hours. Remove covering from baking dish. Bake, uncovered, in a 325*F. for 35-49 minutes or until the center appears set and the edges are lightly golden. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve with Mable syrup. Makes 6-8 servings.
